Chainsaw Artist, Josh Turner Coming to Moscow Bicentennial

10527519_748031308574088_7332662630740802786_n[1]SATURDAY, JULY 23, 2016-As part of the Moscow Bicentennial Celebrations, I Saw It Live Chainsaw Artist, Josh Turner will be joining us to demonstrate his artistry.  Josh is from Woolwich, Maine and has traveled the state participating in many fairs and selling his one of a kind chainsaw carvings.  Come check out his booth in our VENDOR VILLAGE located at 125 Canada Road, Moscow Elementary School Field and watch him while he does live demonstrations of his unique craft from 11 am – 6 pm!  In addition to our event, he is scheduled to be at HarborFest in Wells and also the North New Portland Fair this year.

Lumberjack Sporting Demonstrations/Local Competition Part of Bicentennial Celebration

NELA LogoSATURDAY, JULY 23, 2016 – Competitors from the New England Lumberjack Association (NELA) are coming to the Moscow Bicentennial for an exciting demonstration of lumberjack sports.  The four athletes visiting Moscow include two World Record holders hailing from Maine and the Island of Martha’s Vineyard.   They will be demonstrating their skills in speed chopping, hand sawing, axe throwing and hot sawing.  At four o’clock, the local competition will begin.  Locals can register to compete in the axe throw and wood splitting events the day of the show.  Registration will be $5.  The winner of each event receives all of the registration fees as a prize.  Local competitors are encouraged to bring their own double bit throwing axe and splitting maul/axe.

Demonstrations at 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 3:00 pm

Moscow Bicentennial Charity 5K race/walk

5kThis event is part of Moscow’s Bicentennial Family Fun Week-End Celebrations. There is a $20 Registration Fee for each participant – First 100 on-line registrations will receive a t-shirt & goodie bag (and as supplies last on race day).

Planning Committee Meeting Postponed Due to RSU 83/MSAD #13 Graduation Ceremony

imagesCA4ZU8L0Normally Moscow Celebrates 2016 Planning Committee Meetings are held on the first Sunday of each month at 7 pm at the Town Hall, however in June the meeting will be held on Sunday, June 14th.  Please join us!  We are always looking for more volunteers to help us plan the events.  This change is because Graduation for students in RSU 83/MSAD#13 is that day and families will be busy celebrating.

Miss Moscow – Celebrating 200 years!

Participating in the Miss Moscow Pageant is not only fun and exciting, but it will have a positive effect on your future. This event is a part of the Town of Moscow, Maine’s 200th Anniversary Celebration. The Miss Moscow Pageant is a local pageant, with local volunteers, and most  importantly with local contestants. Cash prize of $100.00 for winner of each age division.

Rules and Regulations

You must be a female; ages 6 to 18 on the date of the pageant.

You must attend or have attended Moscow Elementary School or be a resident of Moscow.

You must be available on January 30, 2016 for the pageant and for specific events, such as the parade, during the July 15—July 24th, 2016 10-day Moscow celebration.

All deadlines must be met.

Judges are local volunteers and their decisions will be final.

Entering is Easy!

Complete the official Miss Moscow Pageant Application Form and return it to the Moscow Town Office at 110 Canada Road on or before January 15, 2016 by 3:00 pm.  Please see Janice Malloy, Donald Beane or Sheree Brown for your Application Form.

Moscow Town Office is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 am—3:00 pm.

All girls will participate in a formal dress event, a talent event and a question and answer event on the date of the pageant. Questions will be taken directly from the applicant’s entry form—No Surprises! All girls will receive a detailed schedule in early January of the contest events.

Our goal is to have a fun and enjoyable event for the girls, their parents and the community to enjoy!!!
